Honest Feedback From Those We Serve
These are reflections from families who have experienced Harmony's care first-hand. We share them with gratitude and with their permission.
Linda Chan
Daughter β Toa Payoh
My mother has been at Harmony for nearly two years now, and the change in her mood has been remarkable. She talks about the staff by name and actually looks forward to the morning activities. I was nervous about placing her in a home, but this place feels more like a community than a facility. The staff are genuinely attentive β they noticed when mum was feeling off before we did.

Son β Ang Mo Kio
We used the Caregiver Relief Programme when I needed to travel for work. My father settled in quickly β much faster than I expected. The intake process was thorough and the staff made an effort to understand his routine. He enjoyed the food, which is saying something because he is very particular. My only note would be that the booking could be a bit more flexible for last-minute needs.

Wendy Teo
Granddaughter β Bishan
My grandmother joined the Creative Ageing Day Programme and has found something she really enjoys β pottery. She had never tried it before, and now she talks about it constantly. The facilitators are patient and encouraging. It has given her something to look forward to during the week, and honestly, it has given our family some peace of mind too.

Aminah Ibrahim
Daughter-in-law β Tampines
What I appreciate most about Harmony is the honesty. When my father-in-law had a difficult week, they called us straight away and walked us through what happened and what they were doing about it. That kind of openness is rare and it means a lot. He has been there for eight months now and we visit every weekend for lunch together.

George Tan
Son β Queenstown
We compared several care homes before choosing Harmony. What stood out was how David, the liaison officer, took time to answer all our questions without rushing us. The pricing is clear and inclusive, which was a relief after some other places that had confusing fee structures. Mum has settled well and seems comfortable with her caregivers.

Susan Liew
Daughter β Clementi
I was the primary caregiver for my mother for six years and was exhausted. The relief programme at Harmony gave me my first proper break in a long time. Knowing she was in a safe, warm environment with people who genuinely cared allowed me to rest without guilt. We have since used the programme three times and it has been consistently good.

Stories of Meaningful Change
From Withdrawal to Connection: Mrs Loh's Journey
Challenge
Mrs Loh, 82, had become increasingly isolated after losing her husband. She refused to leave her flat, ate very little, and was reluctant to engage with family visits. Her children were concerned about her declining physical and emotional health.
What Harmony Did
After a gentle intake process, Mrs Loh was paired with a caregiver who shared her love of Hokkien songs. Staff gradually introduced her to communal meals and the music listening group. Her care plan was adjusted weekly to match her pace of adjustment.
Outcome
Within three months, Mrs Loh was eating full meals, joining group activities voluntarily, and had formed a friendship with another resident. Her daughter described the change as "like having mum back." She has now been a resident for over a year.
Supporting a Family in Transition: The Yeo Family
Challenge
Mr Yeo, 78, needed temporary care while his primary caregiver β his wife β underwent surgery and recovery. The family had one week to find a suitable arrangement and were overwhelmed by the options and logistics involved.
What Harmony Did
We accommodated a three-week Caregiver Relief stay with six days' notice. Our team conducted a detailed intake call, prepared his room with familiar items his family brought in, and maintained his medication schedule and daily walking routine without disruption.
Outcome
Mr Yeo adjusted well and even participated in pottery sessions during his stay. His wife recovered knowing he was safe and cared for. The family has since used the programme twice more and recommends it to friends navigating similar situations.
Creative Expression at 86: Mr Krishnan's Story
Challenge
Mr Krishnan, 86, had limited mobility and was spending most of his days watching television at home. His family wanted him to have more social interaction and mental stimulation but were unsure what would suit a person with his physical limitations.
What Harmony Did
Our facilitators adapted the Creative Ageing Day Programme for Mr Krishnan's needs, setting up an accessible workspace for watercolour painting. He was gently encouraged to try different media and was supported to work at his own pace, with no pressure to produce anything specific.
Outcome
After two months, Mr Krishnan had completed a series of watercolour pieces that surprised his family. More importantly, he had made friends in the group and looked forward to attending each week. His daughter noted he was sleeping better and seemed more content overall.
