Our Story
How Harmony Began
Harmony was founded in 2011 by a small group of healthcare and social work professionals who shared a common frustration: too many eldercare facilities in Singapore felt institutional, impersonal, and disconnected from the lives residents had lived before entering care. They wanted something different — a place that felt less like a facility and more like a neighbourhood.
From a modest start with just twelve residents and a handful of dedicated staff, Harmony has grown into a trusted name in senior care across the Toa Payoh community and beyond. Our approach has always been grounded in one principle: that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for as a whole individual — not as a set of medical needs.
Over the years, we have expanded our services to include caregiver relief stays and a creative ageing day programme, responding to the evolving needs of families in Singapore. Through all this growth, our original values remain unchanged. We hire for empathy and patience. We design our spaces for warmth and familiarity. We build relationships that last.
Our name — Harmony — reflects our belief that good care happens when different elements come together in balance: professional skill and personal warmth, routine and spontaneity, independence and support, individual attention and community belonging.
Our Mission
"To create a home where every senior feels valued, connected, and cared for — where ageing is met not with fear, but with dignity, purpose, and warmth."

Our Standards
Quality and Safety at Harmony
We hold ourselves to clear, measurable standards in every aspect of our care. Here are some of the frameworks and practices that guide our work.
MOH Licensing
Harmony is licensed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) under the Community Hospitals and Nursing Homes regulatory framework, with all standards met and regularly reviewed.
Fire & Emergency Safety
Regular fire drills, SCDF-compliant safety equipment throughout the facility, and staff training in emergency response and evacuation procedures.
Staff Training & Development
All caregivers complete foundational training in geriatric care, dementia support, and first aid. Ongoing learning is part of our culture, with regular workshops and refresher courses.
Care Assessment Protocols
Each resident undergoes a thorough intake assessment, with care plans reviewed monthly. We track health indicators, mobility, nutrition, and emotional wellbeing systematically.
Food Safety & Nutrition
Our kitchen follows NEA food hygiene standards. Menus are planned with guidance from a dietitian to ensure balanced, culturally appropriate meals that residents enjoy.
Data Privacy & Protection
We comply with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and handle all resident and family information with strict confidentiality and appropriate access controls.
What Guides Us
Our Values in Practice
Elderly care in Singapore is at a turning point. As our population ages and families navigate changing dynamics — dual-income households, smaller living spaces, longer working hours — the need for thoughtful, community-based eldercare has never been more pronounced. At Harmony, we see this not as a burden but as a meaningful responsibility and an opportunity to do things well.
Our approach draws on years of hands-on experience in geriatric nursing, social work, and community development. We know that the small things matter: remembering that Mrs Tan takes her kopi-O with less sugar, or that Mr Goh likes to sit by the garden in the late afternoon. This attention to individual detail is what sets community-based care apart from larger institutional settings.
We also recognise that caring for a senior is rarely just about the senior alone. Families are an essential part of the picture. Many of the caregivers who bring their parents or grandparents to us are managing their own fatigue, guilt, and uncertainty. We try to be a supportive presence for them as well — offering honest information, flexibility in our programmes, and a genuine willingness to listen.
Looking ahead, Harmony remains committed to staying small enough to be personal and skilled enough to be dependable. We continue to invest in staff training, facility improvements, and new programme ideas that respond to the real needs of seniors in Singapore today.
